Junior Summer School 2008

"Fun Under the Sea "

Curriculum for this one week camp includes:

Ballet * Theater * Conditioning * Crafts * Games * Movies * Stories

Who: Dancers ages 3-5 and 6-8
Students will be chaperoned at all times.

Dates and Times :
June 16 - 20, Monday-Friday
Camp runs from 9am- 12 noon

Bring with you: Snack and water bottle

Girls: Tights and leotard, ballet slippers; hair in pony tail or bun.

Boys: Shorts, white tee shirt, ballet slippers.

Tuition Before March 29th: $105.00

Tuition After March 29th: $155.00

Professional Fine Arts Dance Camp

"A New York Experience At Lancaster Prices"

This is a summer program for the more serious student.
It is designed for a full two weeks to provide a well-rounded dance experience.


Curriculum Includes:

Ballet * Pointe * Pas de deux * Variations * Pilates * Character * Jazz *
Modern * Spanish * Stretch & Conditioning * Shiatsu * Swing * Acting

Who: Experienced dancers ages 9 and up
Students will be chaperoned at all times.

Dates & Times:
June 16 - 20, Mon-Fri and
June 23 - 27, Mon-Fri

Camp runs from 9am - 2 pm both weeks

Bring with you: Lunch, water bottle

Girls: Tights and leotard, ballet slippers; hair in pony tail or bun.

Boys: Shorts, white tee shirt, ballet slippers.

Summer 2008 Fine Arts Faculty

Paul Sutherland * Ballet * Partnering
Studied in Fort Worth, Texas and New York City. Former ballet master for the Joffrey Ballet. Founding member of the Joffrey Ballet. Danced with Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Ballet Theatre and American Ballet Theatre, New York. International teacher and the only person authorized to stage the Agnes deMille ballet, Rodeo.

Brunilda Ruiz * Ballet * Pointe
Graduated with honors from High School of the Performing Arts, New York City. Founding member and ballerina of the Joffrey Ballet. Danced with the Harkness Ballet, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NYC, and New York City Opera Company. Faculty of Laguardia High School of Music & Art & Performing Arts.

Eileen Beth Mitchell * Modern
Former member of the CityDance Ensemble, Professional Modern Company located in Washington, DC. Graduated with a BA in dance from UMBC. Has received additional training from the Ailey School, American Dance Festival, Ballet Magnificat!, and Baltimore Ballet. She has aspirations to develop a professional Christian dance company in the PA area.

Kim & Ron Whipple * Jazz * Acting * Swing * Disco
Since 1979 the Whipples have owned and operated the Whipple Performing Arts Studio where students study dance, voice, music and theater in the Endless Mountains Region of Northeast PA. The couple has performed for various television shows, resorts and many different venues throughout their career. They developed The Wyoming County Players, one of the busiest community theater groups which finished 2007 with 25 different shows in that year alone. They write, produce and direct original works and stage many well known musicals. Ron teaches Victorian Ballroom, Swing, Disco and Acting. This lively entertaining couple brings years of experience to the classroom and have found that the joy of their life is working with creative and energetic young people!

Sandra Perez * Modern * Ballet
Graduated with a BA in Dance and Elementary Education from the State University of New York College at Brockport. Received her MA in Dance at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Upon joining the dance faculty of the University of Maryland at College Park, she also became a soloist with Maryland Dance Theater, a modern dance repertory company in residence. She has been on the faculty of numerous institutions teaching such courses as Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Creative Dance and Improvisation. She also holds the Advanced Professional teaching certificate and is a Certified Movement Analyst through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in NYC. Currently on the faculty of Towson University where she administers the K-12 certification supervising student teachers. She also teaches Dance Education courses and First Year Foundational Ballet at Towson.

Emily Borthwick * Ballet * Pointe * Spanish * Mime
Received her training from The Dance School of Scotland, Scottish Ballet and The Royal Ballet School, London. In addition she has also studied at The Vaganova School, St. Petersburg, Russia, and has had the opportunity to study with many wonderful teachers and choreographers such as Dame Alicia Markova, Valerie Adams, Pamela May, Lynn Seymour, Christopher Wheeldon, David Long and William Glassman. Before moving to the US Emily performed and taught throughout London and Belgium, including with The Royal Ballet School Junior Associates, The British Primary School, and Finchley Ballet School. She was also a member of Kinetyx Dance Company as well as performing with Columbia City Ballet, Opera Carolina, Albermarle City Ballet, Central Piedmont Theatre. She holds her advanced level teaching qualifications from The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), The Cecchetti Council of America (CCA), The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD) and The Royal Ballet School (Dip RBS, TTC). Now living in California, Emily has been teaching at Berkeley Ballet Theatre, Western Ballet and is currently on the faculty of Contra Costa Ballet Centre and company teacher for Company C Contemporary Ballet.

Viktor Yeliohin * Ballet * Pointe * Character
Graduatae of The Choreographic School, Tashkent, Uzbekistan (former Soviet Union). Principal dancer, teacher and choreographer, Donetsk Ballet. Choreographer for Soviet Men's Olympic team 1982-86. On the faculty of Lancaster School of Ballet. Children’s director of the Nutcracker for the past fifteen years.

Michael Wohlfarth * Shiatsu/Stretching
Graduate of Ohashi Institute and is a State of Maryland Licensed Massage Therapist. Specialized work in neck, shoulder, lower back pain, and stress. Shiatsu, teaches powerful hip-release techniques for flexibility, extension and pain relief. Partner stretching.

Has Movement Education Lesson Plan Development (MELPD) certification and Safety Certification through the United States Association of Gymnastics. Cecchetti certification. Member of Cecchetti Council of America. On faculty of Lancaster School of Ballet for over twelve years. President of Ballet Theater of Lancaster.

Advanced/Intermediate Ballet Classes
Summer 2008

Classes will include

Ballet/Lyrical, Ballet/Jazz and Ballet/Character

This class will be on the following Tuesdays and Thursdays:

July 8th & 10th

July 15th & 17th

July 22th & 24th

July 29th & July 31st

Grade I - Grade III - 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. Cost: $75.00
Grade IV and up - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Cost: $150.00

A card will be issued upon receipt of payment and must be punched before each class.
Any unused classes may be credited to your fall tuition.
The 5th Term Registration form plus payment must be received by March 29, 2008 or the classes will be canceled. Please call the office to make sure classes will be held.
