Lancaster School of Ballet
"A classical education good for the
rest of your life."
All dance starts with classical training... taught in a methodical way that develops: Confidence, Self-Esteem, Self-Discipline, Happiness
After high school ended, I found myself torn between two different career options. I was stuck choosing whether I wanted to go to college for dance or get a degree in an actual well-paying job in the medical field. Although the two are complete opposite career options, they are both something I love. In the end I chose to start my college education as a dance major at Mercyhurst College (soon to be Mercyhurst University). I am now a sophomore at Mercyhurst, and I love every minute of it. College was an eye-opener for me. I went from being in the highest level at my home studio, The Lancaster School of Ballet, to just another girl standing at the barre in a ballet class at Mercyhurst. Although it was discouraging at first, I plan on working even harder this year to improve my technique. I am currently taking many anatomy and physiology classes along with dance classes, so I could not be happier. I chose Mercyhurst because of the incredible and well-known dance and science
departments. At my college it is mandatory to take academic classes as well as dance classes in order for me to get my degree. I plan on working toward getting my minor in either psychology or health and wellness. Once I graduate, I will begin the long audition process. My dream is to make it into a professional contemporary ballet company. But I just want to thank my two biggest supporters and ballet teachers at the Lancaster School of Ballet, Carolyn Trythall and Molly Carey, who have sparked my love for dance deep inside of my heart. Without them, I would not have gotten this far.
